    We are recruiting a Senior Excel .NET Developer to join our rapidly growing Digital team in Gurgaon. As we look to accelerate our drive towards becoming a digitally enabled business, we are actively changing our landscape, embracing cloud technologies, microservices, focusing on delivering both rapidly and reliably.

     

    We want you to come and help us drive up the quality of our products, to enable us to embrace these new technologies and the impact they can have on our business.


    This role will be part of our Gurgaon team, which is connected to a wider Global presence across London and New York. Some flexibility will be required to work with some crossover with London and New York.

    Accountabilities

    In the role you would be expected to:

    Application development

    • Develop Data Managements and Workflow extensions in MS Excel applications (Example: Visual Studio tools for Office)
    • Develop database features in MS Access and MS SQL Server (data modelling, T-SQL, and SSIS) for managing business data and reporting
    • Maintain and transform the existing data flow system and migrate the MS Access databases to SQL server RDBMS
    • Work with the Website development team to deliver data and content to the customers in interactive and innovative ways
    • Define Application architecture and explore & implement new technologies

    Operations

    • Ensure correct flow across the EIU data flow system and databases, integration with the content and website systems
    • Timely delivery of the data packages to the empanelled data partners through various means of data transfer such as FTP, SFTP, and Data APIs
    • Maintenance and upgrade of Excel based forecasting system and the underlying code base

    Project management and planning

    • Experience of working in Agile Scrum and Kanban process where team communication and flexibility are highly valued
    • Review and estimate business requirements and user stories
    • Break down user stories into development tasks
    • Participate in design sessions and provide technical solutions

    Experience, skills and professional attributes

    To succeed in the role you must have:

    • 4-6 years development experience with MS Excel and Visual Studio
      • C#.NET 4.0 and above
      • MS SQL Server 2008 (or later)
    • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Excel and Office suite
    • Proven ability to deliver bespoke solutions to a high quality and to time using appropriate technologies to add commercial value
    • Enterprise application development experience
      • VBA
      • Object Oriented Programming
      • Source Code Control – SVN, Git

    We strongly desire:

    • Any degree with strong quantitative elements (IT, mathematics, statistics, engineering etc.) or equivalent experience
    • Project experience in a professional work setting:
      • 4+ years working in a commercial organisation
      • 2+ years as the technical expert within a cross functional team made up of data scientists, researchers and analysts
      • Proven track record of delivering complete solution involving: inception of project brief, analysis, design, implementation, testing, and the ongoing running of the solution on a long-term basis
    • Additional technical skills is a plus
      • Experience with handling time series and advance forms of data (Example: satellite data)
      • Windows/ .Net Services
      • Python

    You will be able to demonstrate:

    • Ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams through the software development life cycle
    • Extreme proficiency in setting up, optimizing, testing, and debugging applications to ensure operation, quality and conformance to creative and engineering specifications.
    • Expertise in enterprise application development, and Database modelling in relational databases
    • Familiarity to use most of the following tools used by EIU Digital:
      • Development:
        • MS Office 2010 or higher
        • DB MS Access and SQL Server
        • Visual Studio 2010 or higher
        • C#, .NET 3.5 or higher
