    Job Summary


    We are recruiting for a Data Analyst who will be responsible for ensuring the correct and timely delivery of data to clients, as well as helping to improve the internal data management system within the EIU.


    The Data Analyst will be both supporting the processes and systems currently in place, as well as developing new tools for data acquisition, management, processing and delivery.


    In this role you would be expected to contribute to the day-to-day running and management of the Custom Data product of the EIU Consulting, Public Policy, Economics and Politics (PPEP) team, including:

    • Manage the regular schedule of data feeds, troubleshooting errors, and ensuring timely delivery to clients. Data feeds are generally delivered on a monthly, or quarterly basis.

    • Provide quality control on data before delivery and liaising with the economics and technical teams to efficiently solve issues.

    • Working with the sales teams and clients on answering queries and new prospects.

    • Working with our legal teams on checking and drafting contracts to submit to the lead analyst for execution.

    • Setting up and automating new feeds.

    • Supporting the Public Policy, Economics and Politics (PPEP) projects through data collection, processing and quality assurance.

    Experience, skills and professional attributes

    To succeed in this role you must have:

    • A degree with strong quantitative elements (IT, mathematics, statistics, engineering, for example)

    • 2-3 years of experience working as an analyst

    • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, particularly advanced use of Excel, including some knowledge or experience in VBA – writing and editing macros preferable

    • High level of numeracy, experience handling large data sets

    • A basic understanding of economic concepts and data series

    • Ability to extract data from disparate data sources

    • Understanding of data delivery methods over the web or via web services           

    • Awareness of data publishing and visualization on the web

    • Strong problem solving skills and ability to show initiative to troubleshoot

    • A high level of organisational and time management skills

    • Excellent attention to detail

     In addition, the following areas are desirable, but not essential:

    • Previous history of database and SQL

    • Knowledge of other programming/technical languages

    • Previous history of uncovering the value of datasets within organisations
