  • Introduction


    CQ Roll Call, a strategic acquisition of FiscalNote, the leading technology innovator that provides advanced, data-driven issues management solutions to global businesses and governments, and a strategic investment of The Economist Group is currently seeking a Research Analyst in our Gurgaon office.  


    The Research Analyst compiles information on policymaking, including legislation and regulations, attaining an expert level of knowledge of how governments function in the U.S. This individual needs to be able to work well with a team to ensure the comprehensiveness and accuracy of content across a suite of products.  The position requires accuracy, advanced English grammar knowledge, superior communication skills and the ability to work under firm deadlines.


    The role will be based on local hours with some flexibility required to cover day-to-day contact with individuals in the United States.





    In this role you would be expected to:


    • Manage, process and code data and documents, including bill data, amendments, schedules and other items as assigned by a manager
    • Respond to and act upon client questions or requests in a timely manner
    • Prioritize work as needed based on deadlines
    • Demonstrate an understanding of operational tools, procedures and troubleshooting
    • Contribute to news gathering efforts and other duties as assigned
    • Provide subscribers with complete, timely and error-free, quality legislative information
    • Develop an understanding of The Economist's databases and the procedures for updating that content
    • Work closely with the U.S. based Economist research team
    • Obtain a basic understanding of the legislative and regulatory process at the U.S. state level
    • Synthesize and composite regulatory data to fit stakeholder expectations
    • Maintain active relationships with stakeholders and internal users to identify potential issues, gaps in capability, and potential areas for product improvement


    Experience, skills and professional attributes


    To succeed in this role you must have: 


    • One year of research experience
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
    • Top-notch researching skills plus a strong attention to detail and good organizational abilities
    • Ability to work on multiple projects while meeting strict deadlines
    • Understanding of U.S. federal and state government systems
    • Basic knowledge of HTML, the Internet, Microsoft Office and electronic media
    • A willingness to work long hours when needed
    • Efficient management of data requests across group
    • Strong team collaboration
    • Quick, effective, accurate execution of data quality
    • Seamless workflow with Economist branch in the U.S.

    • Proven expertise in data processing, evaluation and reporting

    • Proficiency with Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat Pro
