    The Public Policy practice is recruiting for a Consulting Manager based in Gurgaon. The successful candidate will manage a team of junior analysts, as well as client projects (which will involve managing contributions from inside the Economist Intelligence Unit and from external researchers).

    Accountabilities

    How you will contribute

     

    Manage a team

    • Manage a team of approximately 12 junior analysts based in Gurgaon, including planning resources for global projects and providing oversight and guidance on day-to-day activities of team members
    • Work with regional directors to assign analysts to global public policy consulting projects and business development opportunities
    • Be responsible for ensuring appropriate staffing is organised through our project management software
    • Coach, train and mentor team members in matters of career and personal development

     

    Conceptualize and deliver projects

    • Collaborate closely with global team of consultants and business development professionals on proposals for research programs
    • Conceptualise client projects and develop methodologies and research techniques appropriate to the tasks at hand
    • Prepare and deliver research inputs and reports for client projects, including economic analysis, forecasting models, benchmarking models, data collection, interpretation, analysis and presentations
    • Directly manage individual research projects, dealing with all aspects of project delivery such as writing, editing, cost control, client relations and researcher management
    • Present interim project status and final project deliverables to clients

     

    Build Capacity

    • Develop methods and approaches for research that will help to scale up the Public Policy business and to ensure consistent quality of output
    • Work with the Economics Unit, Country Analysts and other parts of the Economist Intelligence Unit, including Media Businesses and Thought Leadership. to secure their input to Public Policy Consulting research projects and their support in product development

    Experience, skills and professional attributes

    The ideal skills for this role are

     

    • At least 6-8 years’ experience in consulting, with 2-3 years’ experience in managing teams
    • Relevant degree in Public Policy, International Relations, Economics, Business or related subject; Master’s degree in related field desired
    • Prior work in consulting, public and government policy, development economics, business and political analysis
    • Excellent stakeholder management skills, strong consulting and project management experience
    • Outstanding project management track record
    • Good communication and presentation skills
    • Comfort with both clients and the sales force
    • Confidence and diplomatic skills to handle unfamiliar topics and difficult clients
    • Outstanding track record in team management and resource allocation
    • Excellent research / analysis quality
    • Business maturity, self-starter qualities with the discernment to balance commercial considerations with high standards of editorial integrity and analytical capability
    • The ability to deliver research projects with strict deadlines and within budget
    • Generation of repeat business from satisfied clients
    • Maintenance of effective relationships with other parts of the Economist Intelligence Unit, including Sales, Country Analysis, and Thought Leadership/Content Solutions
    • Capability of working on complex projects under tight time frames
