The business has a large subscription client base, receiving economic, political and industry analysis through our websites, as well as a consulting business in which we are sometimes required to deliver bespoke content in digital formats (websites, and apps) to clients.     We have three kinds of work – strategic projects, changes requests and bug fixes, and operational activities – which deliver products to our subscribers, our online Store users and our clients of custom content. Strategic projects can be 3 – 9 months long, with interim releases, with distinct testing phases; smaller changes and bug fixes are bundled into weekly or bi-weekly releases, with testing fitted in. These projects cover the front-end web or other delivery, as well as our backend supporting systems.

     

    EIU Digital, the technology function in the business, are seeking a Quality Assurance Tester. This role will require testing on multiple projects as well as maintaining the quality assurance of the EIU websites and systems.

     

    This role will be part of our rapidly growing Gurgaon team, which is connected to a wider Global presence across London and New York.  Some flexibility will be required to work across UK hours, with some crossover to New York.

    Accountabilities

    In the role you would be expected to:

    • Participate in requirement and design reviews and provide meaningful feedback. Feedback may include considerations for how the design may impact the testability, maintainability, usability, impact to other modules, or performance concerns for the delivered stories.
    • Become a product / application area expert
    • Work closely with support and development to replicate issues
    • Document test plans and test cases, and execute testing on multiple projects.
    • Test user stories, identify the bugs, create tickets/defects and work with the developer to resolve them
    • Once the fixes are implemented, retest the changes alongside regression testing
    • Build, maintain, and execute regression suites; the goal is to quickly perform end to end regression testing. This will be primarily manual at first. Automated testing systems will progressively be rolled out
    • Conduct diagnosis and troubleshooting to identify and/or resolve issues and performance problems
    • Create periodic defect summary reports for project team review
    • Work interactively with other team members and developers and follow escalation procedures to communicate unresolved
    • Utilize Version One tool / ticket system to document and track all identified defects
    • Support QA testing inquiries
    • Perform daily Quality Assurance checks on the EIU websites and pages
    • Articulate timely responses on issues and defects found to the development and project team

    Experience, skills and professional attributes

    To succeed in the role you must have:

    • 3-5 years experience in QA testing enterprise software applications / websites publishing business experience will be ideal
    • Experience working on multiple projects at once
    • Experience with test automation applications
    • Experience of recording defects using a video tool
    • Experience with Agile Scrum process
    • Strong understanding of digital media (video, etc), web standards, technology trends
    • College degree: Bachelors or higher
