The EIU is the global standard in providing quality, actionable intelligence to the public and private sector, assessing issues that impact the marketplace for over two hundred countries.

     

    We are recruiting a leader for our Competitor Intelligence team, which writes short articles about company news events. The team is part of our Industry Briefing service, which covers the automotive, consumer goods, energy, financial services, healthcare and telecommunications sectors. The successful candidate will exert strong management oversight over the team and ensure that it produces high-quality stories that meet the standards of the brand.

     

    Accountabilities

    In the role you would be expected to:

    • Manage the day-to-day functioning of a diverse team.
    • Show a strong sense of news judgement.
    • Write and edit clear and concise articles on corporate developments.
    • Facilitate publication using EIU production systems.
    • Ensure standards of editorial quality are met at all times.
    • Meet targets for timeliness and article quantity.
    • Co-ordinate output with others in Industry Publishing and the wider EIU as required.
    • Observe good standards of office behaviour at all times.

    Experience, skills and professional attributes

    To succeed in the role you must have:

    • Ability to lead a diverse team
    • Strong command of written English
    • A minimum of 3 years of experience analysing companies or writing business news stories
    • Familiarity with one or more relevant industry sectors
    • A good level of general education
    • Excellent knowledge of Word for Windows
    • Proficiency in a major foreign language other than English may also be an advantage

    You will be able to demonstrate:

    • A sharp eye for detail
    • A strong understanding of plagiarism and libel risks
    • Ability to perform calmly and effectively under time pressure
    • A good grounding in corporate practice
