Currently The Economist India has an opportunity for a Research & Editing Manager in our Gurgaon office.  

 

The Research Manager will oversee a team of research specialists covering U.S. policy in the areas of defense, cyber, health, technology and education. The individual must be adept creating a sense of team and fostering an environment of accountability. It is vital that the manager is able to clearly explain goals and have a keen sense of entrepreneurship-always asking what’s next.

 

The role will be based on local hours with some flexibility required to cover day-to-day contact with individuals in the United States. 

 

Accountabilities

In this role you would be expected to:

  • Manage a team of experts in Gurgaon, India spanning different coverage areas
  • Create opportunities for growth and efficiency
  • Respond to and act upon client questions or requests for documents, transcripts or other data in a timely manner
  • Oversee workflow for the group across multiple requests
  • Reprioritize work as needed based on deadlines
  • Demonstrate an understanding of operational tools, procedures and troubleshooting
  • Provide subscribers with complete, timely and error-free, quality legislative information
  • Conduct secondary industry and client research
  • Successful balancing of long hours and a capricious congressional schedule while juggling multiple assignments
  • Work closely with the U.S. based Economist research team
  • Take ownership of other research projects as needed

 

Experience, skills and professional attributes

To succeed in this role you must have:

  • Four years of research experience
  • Master’s degree or equivalent
  • Top-notch researching skills plus a strong attention to detail and good organizational abilities
  • Ability to work on multiple projects while meeting strict deadlines
  • Understanding of a federal government system
  • A willingness to work long hours when needed
  • Efficient management of data requests across group
  • Strong team collaboration
  • Quick, effective, accurate execution of data quality
  • Seamless workflow with Economist branch in the U.S.
